Нобелівську премію з літератури отримала авторка з Білорусі Світлана Алексієвич.

Її нагородили за "її поліфонічніі твори, пам'ятники стражданням і мужності у наш час".

Письменниця народилася в Івано-Франківську. Пізніше її родина переїхала до Білорусі.

Світлана Алєксієвич - автор популярних книг-вербатімів про чеченську війну, Чорнобиль, дев'яностих і Другу світову війну очима жінок, перекладена 20-ма мовами і весь час видається в Європі. 

Вона відома творами "Час секонд хенд" та "У війни жіноче обличчя", за які отримала премію імені Капусцінського. Окрім цього, Алєксієвич присудили Премію миру німецьких книготорговців.
