Визит американского лидера в Берлин оставил много вопросов и разочарование немецких депутатов в президенте США. И речь не только в том, что Трамп не пожал Меркель рукку о чем писал PRпортал. В речи Дональда Трампа было много акцентов, которые насторожили немецкое правительство, но больше всего немецких парламентариев возмутил вопрос о том, когда же Германия собирается погашать долги перед НАТО. По мнению Трампа, Берлин прекрасно понимает, что он задолжал большую сумму денег не только перед Северо-атлантическим альянсом, но и перед США.

Трамп подчеркнул, что США больше не намерены за свой счет укреплять обороноспособность Германии. Депутаты ФРГ не упустили возможности прокомментировать заявления Трампа. Так, социал-демократ Германии Нильс Анне сравнил с монархом, который прибыл к своим подчиненным с требованием – платить ему дань. По его мнению, такие выпады Трампа могут привести лишь к тому, что европейцы перестанут рассматривать США, как надежного партнера, что приведет к тому, что НАТО останется в истории.

Однопартиец канцлера ФРГ Норберт Реттген вовсе назвал информацию Трампа таковой, которая не соответствует действительности. «Германия многим обязана США, которые в сложные времена поддерживали немцев. Единственное, что мы не должны, это деньги», – подчеркнул он.
