Украинский блогер и журналист Юрий Луканов на своей странице в Facebook вспоминает, что 5 июля три года назад Гиркин и его бандиты оставили Славянск и вошли в Донецк. После этого на российском телевидении появился рассказ фейковой беженки о мальчике, которого якобы распяли украинские военные. Уже потом были эпилептическая бабушка, изнасилованная украинскими военными, убитые снегири и тому подобный бред лживой российской журналистики.

Как пишет Юрий Луканов, одной из загадок этой войны есть то, что до сих пор не дает спокойно жить, а именно – отсутствует понимание, почему Гиркин со своими бандитами свободно прошел свой путь в Донецк и никто не помешал ему, ни он, ни большая часть его головорезов не пострадали. 

Вторая загадка войны – это, когда после ужасов Славянска и Краматорска приезжаешь в Харьков и видишь страшную картину. Каких-то четыре часа езды от Харькова идет настоящая война, люди голодают, людей убивают, а в это же время в Харькове спокойствие и уют. Харьковчане и гости первой столицы сидят в кафешках напротив вокзала, пьют пиво или кофе и слушают музыку.
