Жители небольшого греческого острова Гавдос отказались участвовать в выборах в европейский парламент в знак протеста против политики ЕС и властей Греции, сообщает Росбалт.
В Греции 25 мая проходит второй тур региональных и местных выборов и выборы в Европарламент. Мэра жители острова избрали в первом туре, а в европейских выборах островитяне решили не участвовать, поскольку "разочарованы равнодушием как греческих, так и европейских властей к планам по уничтожению химического арсенала Сирии в Средиземном море".
"Нет учреждениям и организациям, которые думают, что наши голоса дали им право принимать решения против народа, в своих политических и экономических интересах", — заявили жители Гавдоса, пишет газета "Имерисия".
Добавим, Гавдос расположен южнее Крита и административно относится к нему. На острове площадью около 30 кв километров проживают 152 человека
