Газета The New York Times створила ролик під назвою «Важка правда» (The Truth is Hard), який за кілька днів зібрав понад шість мільйонів переглядів, пише Media Sapiens.
 
 

У відео на екрані одне за одним з'являються різноманітні твердження, кожне з яких починається зі слів «Правда в тому, що...».  В одному з тверджень йдеться про те, що американська нація «роз'єднана, як ніколи». В іншому, що альтернативні факти є брехнею. Що «жінки мають вдягатися, як жінки» тощо. Ролик завершується словами про те, що правда є важкою. Її важко знайти і нині вона є як ніколи важливою. 

Президент США Дональд Трамп розкритикував рекламу та назвав ролик невдалою спробою The New York Times відновити свою зіпсовану репутацію. Видання Adweek пише, що ролик був показаний в рамках трансляції церемонії вручення «Оскар».

Раніше під час прес-конференції президент США кілька разів звинуватив журналістів у ворожості та перекручуванні інформації. Він заявив, що преса вийшла з-під контролю та що в медіа дуже багато неправдивої інформації.
