Ефіопія заблокувала сайти соцмереж по всій країні після того, як в інтернеті опинилися університетські вступні іспити.

Уряд країни заявив, що пішов на такий крок, аби студенти не відволікалися від навчання в період іспитів і щоб запобігти поширенню неправдивих чуток.

Серед заблокованих сайтів - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram і Viber.

Вони будуть недоступні протягом кількох днів, коли проходитимуть вступні іспити до вишів, повідомив представник Міністерства освіти країни.

Ефіопія стала однією з перших африканських країн, яка почала цензурувати інтернет: там часто блокують опозиційні блоги й веб-сайти правозахисних організацій.

Доступ до соцмереж у країні зникав і раніше, але лише на кілька годин, і уряд заперечував будь-яку причетність до цього. Тож, це вперше, коли соціальні медіа заблокували публічно по всій країні.

У травні в країні скасували університетські вступні іспити після того, як у соцмережах з'явилися фотографії тестів. Відповідальність за це взяла на себе одна з протестних груп.

Традиційні ЗМІ в Ефіопії жорстко контролює уряд, тому багато людей шукають критичну відносно влади інформацію в соціальних медіа.

У глумливому дописі у Facebook, який залишив Сонні Труйєн, йшлося про те, що Сингапур - небажане місце для життя саме через те, що там є недоступною нова гра для смартфонів.
