Народные депутаты приняли в первом чтении законопроект № 1098 "О внесении изменений в закон Украины "О выборах депутатов Верховной Рады Автономной Республики Крым, местных советов и сельских, поселковых, городских голов" (относительно избрания городских глав по мажоритарной системе абсолютного большинства)". За соответствующее решение проголосовали 245 депутатов.

В законопроекте разграничены выборы сельских, поселковых и городских глав (в городах с населением менее 500 тыс. жителей), которые и далее будут проводиться по мажоритарной системе относительного большинства, и выборы городских глав (в городах с населением более 500 тыс. жителей), которых предлагается избирать по мажоритарной избирательной системе абсолютного большинства.

Избранным городским главой (в городах с населением свыше 500 тыс. жителей) будет считаться кандидат, который получил на выборах более половины голосов избирателей, принявших участие в голосовании, сообщает РБК.

"Если ни один из кандидатов на должность мэра не наберет абсолютного большинства - будет проводиться повторное голосование по двум кандидатурам, набравшим наибольшее количество голосов избирателей", - говорится в пояснительной записке к документу.

В законопроекте значительно детализирован порядок проведения повторного голосования.
