Партія "Батьківщина" вже сьогодні подає до Центральної виборчої комісії повідомлення про проведення ініціативних зборів громадян щодо проведення референдуму про вступ України до НАТО.

Про це заявила Юлія Тимошенко, пише УП.

За її словами, цей референдум має відбутися одночасно з достроковими парламентськими виборами 26 жовтня.

Вона нагадала, що в п’ятницю генсек НАТО Андерс Фог Расмуссен допустив вступ України в альянс в майбутньому і додала, що для цього необхідне проведення референдуму. Тимошенко впевнена, що зараз підтримка цієї ідеї в народі дуже висока.

"У нас немає ніяких сумнівів, що саме вступ України до НАТО якомога швидше і буде одним з факторів припинення війни, встановлення миру, повернення до нормального життя", — заявила вона.

За словами Тимошенко, ініціативні збори громадян з цього приводу будуть проведені 5 вересня о 12 годині.

"Після того ми починаємо згідно закону України про всеукраїнський референдум збирати 3 млн підписів. Саме стільки потрібно, щоб мати можливість поставити це питання на референдум", — повідомила Тимошенко.

Вона звернулася до президента, прем’єра, голови Верховної ради, депутатів та всіх українських громадян з проханням підтримати ідею якнайшвидшого проведення референдуму.

"І я переконана, якщо б ми цей крок по вступу України до НАТО зробили ще на самому початку отримання Україною незалежності 23 роки тому — сьогодні Україна жила би в мирі, в спокої, з сильною економікою, з сильною соціальною системою", — впевнена Тимошенко.
