Демократическая партия США по итогам промежуточных выборов впервые более чем за 20 лет получила полный контроль над законодательным органом в Вирджинии, а ее кандидат на пост губернатора Кентукки заявил о своей победе.

Окончательные результаты выборов губернатора Кентукки, где республиканцы пользовались устойчивой поддержкой, пока неясны из-за близких показателей кандидатов, несмотря на усилия, которые президент США Дональд Трамп приложил в последний момент.

Демократ Энди Бешир объявил о своей победе на выборах над действующим губернатором Мэттом Бевином, но Бевин пока не признал своего поражения.

После того как 100 процентов округов подвели итоги выборов, Бешир опережает Бевина на 4658 голосов из более 1,4 миллиона подсчитанных бюллетеней.

За год до президентских выборов результаты голосования стали предупреждающим сигналом для обеих партий.

Избиратели в пригородных районах Кентукки и Вирджинии поддержали демократов, и если эта тенденция сохранится, это может стать препятствием на пути Трампа к переизбранию.

Напомним, что выборы президента США состоятся в 2020 году. Соперник Трампа от Демократической партии пока не определился, наиболее вероятными кандидатами считаются бывший вице-президент Джо Байден и сенаторы Элизабет Уоррен и Берни Сандерс.
