Во время кампании перед всеобщими выборами в Мексике, с сентбяря 2017 года по 1 июля 2018-го, были убиты 152 политика и 371 чиновник.

Эксперты назвали прошедшую предвыборную кампанию самой жестокой в современной истории Мексики, начиная с 1997 года. Они также считают, что безопасность избранных политиков и действующих должностных лиц находится под угрозой. 

Согласно исследованию, в Мексике за день в среднем происходило 1,7 убийства политиков и чиновников. Общее же число нападений достигло 1,2 тыс. случаев. Всего аналитики зафиксировали 774 нападения на политиков и 429 — на чиновников. Наибольшее число нападений пришлось на 1 июля, за это день произошло 138 покушений и семь убийств.

Ранее сообщалось, что за время избирательной кампании, которая началась в сентябре 2017 года, в стране были убиты более 135 политиков. При этом о новых убийствах сообщалось каждый день. 48 жертв были кандидатами на выборах или претендовали на выдвижение.

  • 25 июня в мексиканском Окампо по подозрениям в связи с преступниками были задержаны около 30 сотрудников полиции.
  • 23 июня в Мексике преступники расправились сразу с двумя кандидатами в главы разных муниципалитетов штата Мичоакан за десять дней до всеобщих выборов в латиноамериканской стране.
