Кібератака на облікові записи електронної пошти британських депутатів минулого місяця, скоріше за все, здійснили аматори, а не хакери, яких підтримує уряд якоїсь країни.

Про це повідомляє  Європейська правда з посиланням на Reuters із посиланням на європейські урядові джерела.

Хакери зламали приватні поштові скриньки близько 90 з 650 членів Палати громад Британії наприкінці червня. Після цього деякі ЗМІ повідомляли, що напад здійснювався за фінансування іноземного уряду, можливо, Росії.

Проте експерти з кібербезпеки заявили, що хакерам вдалося отримати доступ до облікових записів тільки тих законодавців, які використовували легкі для зламу паролі. До цих пір незрозуміло, хто здійснив атаку.

Слідчі сподіваються, що цей напад переконає політиків та інших громадських діячів використовувати більш складні паролі для електронної пошти та інших онлайнових додатків.

Британські власті публічно не коментують хід розслідування, але офіційно заявили, що "кіберзагрози для Британії походять від злочинців, терористів, хактивістів та національних держав".

Нагадаємо, згідно з розслідуванням британського видання The Times, російські хакери продають онлайн паролі, що належать британським міністрам, послам та старшим офіцерам поліції.
