В Черногории пророссийские политики, которых подозревают в попытке государственного переворота, планируют провести незаконный референдум, чтобы остановить присоединение страны к НАТО, сообщает Новое время со ссилкой на Financial Times.

Как заявил депутат парламента страны Милан Кнежевич и один из лидеров предполагаемого заговора, Черногория стала "полигоном для геополитического противостояния" между Россией и Западом.

"Мы организуем всенародный, консультативный референдум, который покажет, что большинство людей выступают против НАТО", - сказал он.

FT отмечает, что стены офиса Кнежевича украшены православными иконами, портретами маршала Георгия Жукова и диктатора Иосифа Сталина.

Другой представитель оппозиции Андрей Мандич также выступил за поддержку неофициального референдума по членству в НАТО.

Издание отмечает, что требование оппозиционных депутатов относительно проведения  референдума по НАТО напоминает практику использования незаконного референдума "пророссийскими сепаратистами в Крыму и на востоке Украины три года назад, чтобы подорвать суверенитет этой страны".

Напомним, в день голосования на парламентских выборах - 16 октября 2016 года - в Черногории объявили о задержании 20 граждан Сербии по подозрению в подготовке теракта и путча, в ходе следствия под стражей остались 14 человек, остальные были отпущены. Черногорская прокуратура пришла к выводу, что за попыткой путча стоят российские власти.

Прокуратура Черногории подозревает Милана Кнежевича и Андрея Мандича в организации криминальной группы, которая стоит за организацией терактов во время выборов в октябре 2016 года.
