До 2,5 років ув'язнення засудили американця Сенфорда Уоллеса, що розіслав 27 мільйонів спам-повідомлень користувачам соціальної мережі Facebook.

Також Уоллес повинен заплатити штраф у розмірі понад 310 000 доларів.

Американські ЗМІ називають Уоллеса «королем спаму». З листопада 2008 року по березень 2009 року він відправляв користувачам соцмережі посилання на веб-сайти зі шкідливими програмами, які надавали хакеру доступ до всієї інформації їхніх особистих сторінок, включаючи дані про «друзів».

Таким чином, під загрозою безпеки виявилися близько півмільйона акаунтів Facebook. Завдяки можливості здійснювати такі масові розсилки, хакер розраховував на гарну грошову винагороду від низки компаній, які платять, виходячи з рівня трафіку пересланої інформації.

За даними видання, Facebook був далеко не першим місцем практики злодіянь хакера. Досвід «короля спаму» починається ще в 90-х роках ХХ століття, коли він розсилав непотрібні факсимільні повідомлення.

У 2007 році проти нього вже був поданий позов від соціальної мережі MySpace, однак тоді Уоллес уникнув покарання. Цього разу він визнав себе винним за однією зі статей за «шахрайство» і пов'язані з ним дії.

Нагадуємо, російські хакери проникли в комп'ютерну мережу Національного комітету Демократичної партії Сполучених Штатів Америки (США) і отримали доступ до всієї бази даних досліджень опозиції на кандидата в президенти Республіканської партії Дональда Трампа.
