Во вторник, 12 апреля,  в ООН начался отбор кандидатов на пост генерального секретаря. Впервые в истории организации в качестве предварительного этапа проводятся публичные слушания. Об этом пишет The Daily Mail, передает РБК.

На заседании во вторник выступили трое из девяти кандидатов на должность главы ООН: министр иностранных дел Черногории Игорь Лукшич, бывший Верховный комиссар ООН по делам беженцев Антониу Гутерреш и глава ЮНЕСКО болгарка Ирина Бокова, которая является предпочтительной кандидатурой с точки зрения России. Москва настаивает на том, что следующий Генеральный секретарь ООН должен быть представителем Восточной Европы. Кандидаты представили на слушаниях свое видение будущего крупнейшей международной организации.

Среди претендентов на должность Генерального секретаря ООН, бывший премьер-министр Словении, бывшие министры иностранных дел Молдавии, Хорватии, Македонии, бывший премьер-министр Новой Зеландии.

Напомним, в прошлом году Генассамблея изменила правила, предложив кандидатам представить официальные заявления о желании претендовать на эту должность, свои резюме. Выступление на слушаниях - один из этапов отбора кандидата. Последнее слово, тем не менее, остается за Советом Безопасности ООН, который начнет предварительное обсуждение кандидатур в июле.
