Венеціанський фестиваль виступив на захист українського режисера Олега Сенцова, засудженого в Росії до 20 років в'язниці, пише Gazeta.ua з посиланням на  "Інтерфакс".

Як зазначається, що вираз підтримки зроблено від імені всієї світової кіноіндустрії. "Ще в минулому році на захист Олега виступили Педро Альмодовар, Майк Лі, Стівен Долдрі, Мохсен Махмальбаф, Тільда Суінтон. На попередньому фестивалі одне крісло, призначене для членів журі, простояло символічно порожнім як нагадування про Олега", - кажуть організатори фестивалю.

Під час нинішнього, 72-го Венеціанського фестивалю підтримку Сенцова виступили український режисер Сергій Лозниця і іранський режисер Мохсен Махмальбаф, а французький режисер Крістіан Венсан перед прем'єрою свого конкурсного фільму публічно зачитав звернення кінематографічної громадськості на захист Сенцова.

Нагадаємо, Північно-Кавказький окружний військовий суд у російському Ростові-на-Дону засудив українського режисера Олега Сенцова до 20 років ув'язнення у виправній колонії суворого режиму, іншого підсудного - активіста Олександра Кольченка - засуджено до 10 років позбавлення волі. Як стало відомо, Мін'юст надсилає четвертий позов проти Росії до ЄСПЛ у зв'язку з засудженням Сенцова.
