Во время региональной недели в Госдуме член комитета по промышленности депутат Олег Савченко и зампред комитета по ЖКХ депутат Александр Сидякин (оба — «Единая Россия») решили, видимо, распространить деятельность российского парламента на еще не охваченные им регионы. Едва вернувшись из Антарктиды, куда они ездили водружать флаг Российской Федерации, они отправились в Индонезию к проживающим на границе с Папуа–Новой Гвинеей папуасам, чтобы убедить их поддержать Луганскую Народную Республику. По словам источника, сообщившего "Известиям" о новом вояже парламентариев, им удалось организовать массовую поддержку местными племенами политики ЛНР - российские депутаты добились признания ЛНР истеблишментом племен, а флаг самопровозглашенной республики установили почти что на святейшем для местных жителей месте. 

Вместе с парламентскими туристами в поездке участвовали журналисты научно-популярного телеканала National Geographic. При этом источник не стал уточнять, принимали ли депутаты из России участие в съемках нового документального сериала.
