Во время визита президента Украины Владимира Зеленского в Ригу, местные жители в костюмах цыплят протестовали против производства украинских яиц в Латвии. Об этом сообщает TV3 Latvija.

Двое мужчин с плакатом "Oвостар, сальмонелла, коррупция", нарядившись курицами, митинговали на Вантовом мосту возле Рижского замка, где проходила встреча Владимира Зеленского с президентом Латвии Эгилсом Левитсом. Вскоре оба мужчины по просьбе службы безопасности покинули мост.

Ассоциация производителей яиц и мяса в Латвии ранее обращалась к премьер-министру Кришьянису Кариньшу с просьбой остановить импорт яиц из третьих стран, в том числе из Украины. Яйца в Латвию ввозят четыре украинских предприятия, получившие соответствующую лицензию Еврокомиссии.

Также Латвийская ассоциация производителей птичьего мяса и яиц выразила беспокойство по поводу того, что Ovostar Union - одна из ведущих агропромышленных компаний Украины - не оставляет планов построить в Латвии птицефабрику на 8 миллионов кур. В ассоциации считают, что компания сможет использовать завод по производству яичного порошка и другой продукции для того, чтобы обойти европейские нормы содержания куриц-несушек.
