Міністр Кабінету Міністрів Олег Немчінов попросив Національний банк змінити зображення київських князів Володимира Великого та Ярослава Мудрого на монетах номіналом 1 гривня і 2 гривні. Про це він сказав на засідання уряду.
“Я хочу попросити голову Національного банку збрити бороду Володимиру Великому і Ярославу Мудрому і повернути нам наших князів у такому вигляді, в якому вони були на оригінальних, найкращих гривнях”, – звернувся Немчінов до керівника НБУ Кирила Шевченка.
Зазначимо, сьогодні невідомо, як виглядали тисячу років тому великий князь Володимир Великий чи Ярослав Мудрий. Єдине достовірне джерело щодо зовнішнього вигляду Володимира – срібник з його портретом, що зберігається в Одеському музеї нумізматики. Князь на ньому з вусами, але без бороди.
На сучасних зображеннях Володимир усюди з бородою, навіть на пам’ятнику в Києві. Зовнішність князя підмінили і на гривнях – на купюрах 90-х років князь мав лише вуса, а вже у 2004 році він “відростив” бороду. Бородатий Володимир так і лежить у наших гаманцях
Ярослав Мудрий, що прикрашає купюру 2 гривні, обзавівся бородою у 2005-му.
Багато істориків тоді були обурені цією зміною, адже носіння бороди було властиво московським правителям, а Ярослав Мудрий був з вусами.
