Персонал центру приходив вранці на роботу і бачив безліч кішок, які ходили по офісній частині притулку, «залишаючи за собою слід хаосу та руйнування». Зазвичай їх замикають у загальному приміщенні, але камери спостереження показали, що Квілті відмикав двері.
За словами персоналу, вони намагалися якось запобігти акціям Квілті, але кота було не зупинити. Центр купив спеціальний «дитячий замок», але перед установкою той «таємничим чином зник». До придбання другого замку Квілті й відправили в «одиночну камеру», але він не залишив спроб вибратися й звідти.
