Телеведуча американського каналу MSNBC Елісон Морріс допустила обмовку в сюжеті про загибель легендарного баскетболіста Кобі Брайанта, запнувшись і назвавши його команду «Лос-Анджелес Ніггерс», замість «Лос-Анджелес Лейкерс».

Відео з уривком ефіру миттєво розлетілося по соцмережах. Користувачі звинуватили журналістку в расизмі, хоча багато хто вважає, що вона просто допустила невдалу помилку. Деякі жартують, що цей випадок стане початком нової кар'єри телеведучої.

Як повідомляє Huffpost, на ресурсі Change.org була зареєстрована петиція з вимогою звільнення журналістки. Вона вже зібрала понад 13 тисяч підписів. Сама Морріс звинувачення в расизмі заперечує. За її словами, вона просто невдало запнулася.

«Повідомляючи трагічні новини про те, що Кобі Браянт пішов з життя, я до нещастя запнулася, поєднавши назви Кнікс і Лейкерс, сказавши «Нейкерс».

Будь ласка, знайте, я ніколи не використовувала і не стала б використовувати расистські висловлювання. Я перепрошую за непорозуміння, до якого це призвело», – написала вона в Twitter.
