Колишній президент Грузії та екс-керівник Одеської облдержадміністрації Міхеіл Саакашвілі прокоментував епізод із жуванням кінчика краватки у 2008 році. Про цю свою звичку він розповів в інтерв’ю Дмитру Гордону.

"Я ж не знав, що я в прямому ефірі. А коли людина залишається наодинці з собою, особливо в такій ситуації, вона може що завгодно зробити. Ця звичка у мене ще з "Артека" : вже там до краватки я був небайдужий. Тому, бачите, особливо їх і не ношу. Я на дієті зараз: хочу схуднути. Ви думаєте, чого я такий худий став? Тому що від краваток відмовився", - пожартував Саакашвілі.

Політик також зізнався, що не пам'ятає змісту тієї телефонної розмови, під час якої потягнув до рота кінчик краватки і це потрапило на телебачення. "Камери стояли у мене в кабінеті: і ВВС, і СNN, і все інше... І в якийсь момент я просто втратив контроль. Хоча я не пам'ятаю, щоб у мене була особлива істерика, ніхто з нас не впадав в паніку. Сто з гаком тисяч чоловік напали на мою маленьку країну, танки, літаки, столицю нашу взяти хотіли, уряд повалити, мене вбити – все це були їхні цілі. Але жодну з цих цілей Путін здійснити не зміг", - наголосив екс-президент Грузії.
