Как пишет газета Le Figaro, казаки таким образом выразили признательность Путину за присоединение Крыма. Как только позволят средства, они планируют отлить бюст из бронзы и сделать его в два раза больше.

Кроме того, в будущем рядом с Путиным появятся еще две скульптуры: памятник погибшему казаку (прообразом для него станет петербургский казак Дмитрий Сизиков, погибший на востоке Украины) и памятник атаману Всевеликого войска Донского Петру Краснову, который был повешен в 1947 году в Москве за сотрудничество с немецко-фашистскими захватчиками.
