Из материалов следствия стало известно, что гигантский снежный пенис в поселке Михайловское Алтайского края построили с помощью экскаватора-погрузчика сотрудники местного деревообрабатывающего завода.
Поскольку статуя обветрилась, ее решено было облить водой, а внутрь для прочности вставить елочную колоду. Из-за того, что она в нижней части подтаяла, многотонная конструкция внезапно рухнула, лишив жизни влюбленную пару, которая решила сфотографироваться рядом с памятником.
Девушку придавило бревном, а парня зажала ледяная верхушка статуи. По другой версии, парень залез на вершину статуи, чтобы надеть на нее свою шапку. На месте происшествия найдены расплющенное ведро и веревка.
