Губернатор Грег Ебботт похвалився економікою Техасу, порівнявши її з показниками Росії, і пожартував, що це робить його самого «більш могутнім», ніж Володимир Путін, пише УНІАН

«В Техасі ми не порівнюємо нашу економіку з іншими штатами. Ми порівнюємо її з іншими країнами!», - цитує слова американського чиновника Business Insider. «Для порівняння техаська економіка більша, ніж у Канади, більша, ніж у Австралії. І от ще. Економіка Техасу навіть більша, ніж економіка Росії. Це робить мене більш могутнім, ніж Путін!», - сказав Ебботт. Свою заву він зробив у Г’юстоні в понеділок до того, як президент Дональд Трамп вирішив підтримати іншого республіканця - сенатора Теда Круза - на середньострокових виборах.

Видання нагадує, що величезним ВВП може похвалитися і Каліфорнія. Цей її показник сягає 2,7 трильйона доларів. Це робить штат п’ятою за розміром економікою світу, яка навіть більша ніж у Великої Британії.

 Каліфорнія і Техас роками були економічними суперниками, що відбилося на політичному, діловому і культурному житті штатів. У Росії ж в п’ять разів більше мешканців, ніж у Техасі. Але її ВВП на 400 мільярдів доларів менша.
