Посольство Китаю в Данії вимагало вибачень від данського видання Jyllands-Posten через публікацію карикатури про новий смертельний вірус з Китаю. 

Про це пише «Медуза», посилаючись на данське видання Politiken. Зазначається, що карикатура, про яку йде мова, була опублікована в номері Jyllands-Posten за 27 січня.

На ній зображено китайський державний прапор, де замість зірок фігурують тіла вірусу.

На думку китайської сторони, карикатура «вийшла за межі етичних меж свободи слова», «образила Китай і образила почуття китайського народу». Автор карикатури, художник Нільс Бо Бойсен, від якого посольство теж вимагало вибачень, від коментарів відмовився. Редактор Jyllands-Posten Якоб Нібро заявив данському телеканалу TV 2, що його видання не хотіло образити Китай або китайців. Проте, він відмовився вибачатися і видаляти зображення.

«Цей малюнок, на відміну від багатьох інших карикатур, відображає стан світу просто зараз», — заявив Нибро.
