Глава російської патріаршої комісії у справах сім'ї Димитрій Смирнов назвав ядерну зброю «чудовим винаходом».

Про це Смирнов сказав в інтерв'ю газеті «Токіо сімбун», передає «Інтерфакс».

«Ми освячуємо всі предмети, якими користується людина: і будинок, і навіть одяг, і автомобілі. А ядерна зброя - це взагалі такий чудовий винахід. Завдяки цій зброї Росія досі існує, - заявив Смирнов.

Смирнов також розповів, що після другої світової війни прем'єр-міністр Великої Британії нібито умовляв президента США скинути атомні бомби на 27 найбільших міст Росії, «щоб її не було взагалі». Цим планам, на думку Смирнова, завадило створення атомної бомби в Радянському Союзі.

"Ми хоч і освячуємо ядерну зброю, але це зброя миру: ми на відміну від Америки ніколи її не використовуємо і не хочемо використовувати. Це знаряддя залякування тих, хто хоче нас знищити, про що вони зараз, особливо в XXI столітті, відкрито говорять", - додав Смирнов. Тому представник РПЦ вдячний Богові, який «благословив наших (російських) вчених створити в дуже важких умовах цю чудову зброю, тому освячуємо (ракети – УНІАН) як наших захисників».
