Ширер почав озвучувати доктора Гіберта у Сімпсонах у 1989 році.

Зазнчається, що причиною відмови Ширеру в дублюванні персонажа доктора Гіберта стало зобов'язання студії Fox перед рухом Black Lives Matter не дублювати темношкірих персонажів білими акторами.

Відтепер доктора Гіберта дублюватиме Кевін Майкл Річардсон.
