Відео показує основні меми року, як, наприклад, акція з обливанням крижаною водою IceBucketChallenge. Ролик висвітлює основних знаменитостей YouTube, як Малюка Президента і Бетані Мота, а також посилається на найбільш гарячі музичні кліпи року, як кліп на пісню "Fancy" австралійської співачки Іггі Азалія,пише ТСН

Також у ролику є пародія на вірусні відео хіти, як "First Kiss" і "Диявольська атака з немовлям", а ще - на популярні фільми, як "Вартові Галактики".

YouTube Rewind вперше був показаний в 2010 році і з тих пір сервіс щороку збирає в одному ролику найважливіші події в Інтернеті, що минає.
