Мессенджер WhatsApp с 5 апреля включил шифрование для всех своих пользователей. Теперь все звонки и переписка будут недоступны для прослушки или взлома.

Речь идет о способе защиты данных, когда исходные голосовые, текстовые, фото-, видеофайлы и любая другая информация, передающаяся через канал коммуникации, может быть прочтена только отправителем и получателем и при этом не может быть перехвачена третьими лицами — будь то киберпреступники, хакеры, органы власти или же сотрудники самого WhatsApp. Такой тип шифрования станет доступен для всех пользователей WhatsApp, которые обновят мессенджер до последней версии. Он распространится и на групповые чаты.
WhatsApp использует технологию шифрования с 2014 года, однако ранее она работала только на устройствах на Android и только для личных бесед.
