Популярная передача об автомобилях Top Gear возобновит выход на британском телеканале BBC с воскресенья, 8 мая 2016 года. Об этом пишет The Guardian со ссылкой на нового ведущего Криса Эванса.

По его словам, съемки уже начались. Работы будут проводиться в том числе в Америке. Всего в новой серии программы будет 16 эпизодов. Кто станет соведущим, Эванс не раскрыл.

Прежний ведущий, Джереми Кларксон, был отстранен от Top Gear 10 марта. По информации британских СМИ, поводом стал конфликт ведущего с продюсером Ойсином Таймоном, закончившийся потасовкой. Как отмечалось, причиной скандала стало отсутствие горячей еды на съемочной площадке.

25 марта BBC решила контракт с Кларксоном не продлевать. Вслед за ним Top Gear покинули Ричард Хаммонд и Джеймс Мэй, а также продюсер Энди Уилмен. В конце июля они подписали контракт на создание телешоу со стриминговым видеосервисом Amazon. Его запуск запланирован на 2016 год.

Британская передача об автомобилях Top Gear имеет самые высокие рейтинги в мире. В 2012 году программа попала в Книгу рекордов Гиннесса как телепроект с наибольшим числом зрителей, ее транслируют более чем в 200 странах.
