Президент Таджикистану Емомалі Рахмон підписав закон про створення Єдиного комутаційного центру, який, за словами критиків, запроваджує додатковий урядовий контроль за інтернетом і стільниковим зв’язком.

Згідно з документом, підписаним 25 січня, всі оператори зв’язку і провайдери в Таджикистані повинні будуть надавати міжнародні послуги зв’язку та інтернету тільки через нову структуру.

Голова Асоціації інтернет-провайдерів Таджикистану Парвіна Ібодова повідомила, що новий центр дасть можливість урядові закрити певні сайти.

В останні роки в Таджикистані кілька разів переривався доступ до низки сайтів, зокрема Facebook, Twitter, сайту Таджицької і Російської служби Радіо Свобода й інших новинних ресурсів.

У листопаді парламентарі Таджикистану ухвалили закон, який дозволяє владі блокувати телефонну й Інтернет-системи під час проведення «антитерористичних операцій».
