У вівторок в Мексиці був застрелений кандидат у депутати конгресу від Партії демократичної революції, колишній мер Вальє-де-Чалько у штаті Мехіко Мігель Анхель Луна

Мігель Анхель Луна став уже четвертим політиком, убитим напередодні проміжних виборів, призначених на 7 червня.

У партії заявляють, що озброєні люди скоїли напад на Луну у виборчому штабі, поранивши при цьому його помічника. Кандидат невдовзі помер у лікарні.

З початку березня у південних штатах Мічоакан і Герреро жертвами вбивства стали двоє кандидатів у мери, а також жінка, котра планувала брати участь у передвиборчій кампанії.

Крім того, як повідомив державний виборчий інститут, у понеділок ввечері в місті Тлапа група озброєних людей увірвалася на виборчу дільницю і спалила понад 116 тисяч бюлетнів. Аналогічні напади з підпалом і крадіжкою бюлетнів відбулися раніше в сусідньому штаті Оахака.
