Ветеран вооруженных сил США Кэмерон Керр (Cameron Kerr) запустил краудфандинговую кампанию на GoFundMe с целью собрать средства на отправку в армию кандидата в президенты от республиканцев Дональда Трампа. О необычном решении бывшего военного сообщает Mashable.

По словам Керра, Трамп крайне неуважительно отнесся к его подарку во время состоявшейся в начале августа встречи со сторонниками в штате Вирджиния. Тогда ветеран вручил миллиардеру копию своей медали «Пурпурное сердце», полученной за боевое ранение в Афганистане.

Трамп пошутил, что всегда мечтал об этой награде, но получить ее в дар от своего сторонника куда проще, чем заслужить. В ответ Керр решил собрать средства и отправить кандидата в президенты в реальную зону боевых действий, чтобы у него был шанс получить медаль «классическим старомодным способом». Всего за четыре дня ветеран собрал более 40 тысяч долларов.

«Как человек, побывавший в Афганистане и вернувшийся оттуда на одну ногу легче, я всецело поддерживаю стремление Трампа заслужить награду и буду одним из первых, кто вложит средства в его отправку в зону боевого конфликта», — описал цель кампании Керр. Позже он заявил, что на самом деле использует собранные средства для помощи сирийским беженцам.
