Генеральный секретарь Национальной ассамблеи Ливана Аднан Дагер в среду заявил, что в связи с отсутствием кворума спикер парламента Набих Берри перенес второй раунд президентских выборов страны на 13 мая. Это уже 22-й раз с апреля прошлого года, когда Ливан переносит дату президентских выборов,сообщает Синьхуа

Согласно конституции Ливана, президент Ливана избирается депутатами парламента. Для проведения голосования две трети членов парламента должны присутствовать на заседании, то есть не менее 86 из 128 парламентариев. В среду в зале для голосований удалось собрать лишь 44-х представителей.

В тот день на встрече с некоторыми депутатами Н. Берри осудил некоторые партии за бойкотирование парламентских заседаний, подчеркнув, что не допустит деградации такого важного государственного механизма, как парламент. Премьер-министр Ливана Таммам Салам 21 апреля призвал политические партии избрать нового президента как можно скорее, чтобы возобновить нормальную работу государственного механизма.

Согласно конституции Ливана, президентом республики может быть только христианин-маронит, избранный парламентом. После завершения срока полномочий бывшего президента Мишеля Сулеймана 25 мая прошлого года Ливан находится в политическом кризисе, а парламенту не удается избрать нового главу государства по причине отсутствия кворума
