Основатель мужского журнала Playboy Хью Хефнер умер у себя дома на 92-м году жизни, сообщает телеканал CNN. Причина смерти пока неизвестна.

Хью Хефнер основал Playboy в 1953 году, вложив $600 из своих сбережений и $10 тысяч инвестиций. Начав с журнала, он построил развлекательную империю, достигшую пика развития в семидесятые. Тогда в нее входили телешоу, джазовый фестиваль и сеть клубов с официантками в фирменной одежде в виде кроличьих ушек и хвостиков.

Будущий основатель мужского журнала родился в 1926 году в семье бухгалтера и учительницы протестантского вероисповедания. По его словам, это были хорошие люди, сдерживавшие все свои порывы. У него дома запрещалось обниматься и целоваться.

В 1944 году он окончил среднюю школу и пошел на военную службу в качестве корреспондента. Этот опыт пригодился Хефнеру при дальнейшей работе в журнале Esquire, где ему пришла в голову идея создать собственный журнал. Первый номер вышел в декабре 1953 года с актрисой Мэрилин Монро на обложке.

Последние годы жизни Хефнер провел в своем особняке, развлекаясь с молодыми женщинами. Он не стеснялся признаваться, что пользуется виагрой для поддержания устоявшегося образа жизни.
