Україну обрали непостійним членом Ради Безпеки ООН на 2016-2017 роки.

За це проголосували 177 країн зі 193 членів Генасамблеї ООН, повідомляє Українська правда

Україна вже тричі обиралася до складу непостійних членів Радбезу ООН, останній раз у 2001-2002 рр.

Раніше глава МЗС Павло Клімкін заявив, що позиція Києва під час роботи Радбезу "точно не буде примирливою" щодо Росії, яка, є постійним членом цього органу.

"Обрання до Ради Безпеки є особливо важливим для нас на тлі російської агресії. Вперше ми отримали абсолютно унікальну ситуацію, яку не можна було уявити, що постійний член Радбезу - це агресор, що веде гібридну війну проти України", - сказав Клімкін.

Крім України статус непостійного члена Радбезу ООН також отримали Японія, Єгипет, Сенегал та Уругвай. Нові непостійні члени Радбезу почнуть виконувати свої обов'язки 1 січня 2016 року, замінивши собою Чад, Чилі, Йорданію, Литву та Нігерію.

До Ради Безпеки ООН входять 15 країн. Постійними членами організації є лише п'ять із них: Велика Британія, Китай, Росія (як правонаступниця СРСР), США та Франція. Вони також мають право вето під час голосування.
