Дострокові вибори президента Південної Кореї призначені на 9 травня, повідомило Новое время з посиланням на агентство Associated Press.

Згідно з місцевим законодавством, дострокові вибори повинні бути проведені в країні протягом 60 днів після того, як Конституційний суд визнав законним імпічмент президента.

Відповідне рішення стосовно нинішнього глави держави Пак Кін Хе суд виніс 10 березня.

Також повідомляється, що прокурори мають намір допитати Пак Кін Хе наступного тижня.

На даний момент обов'язки президента Південної Кореї виконує прем'єр-міністр країни Хван Ге Ан.

Депутати південнокорейського парламенту в грудні минулого року проголосували за імпічмент Пак Кін Хе. Це рішення було прийняте, коли стало відомо про великий корупційний скандал, до якого виявилася залучена президент країни.

На початку листопада подругу президента, Цой Сун Сіль, затримали за підозрою в шахрайстві і зловживанні владою.
