Дослідницька група парламенту Південної Кореї дійшла висновку, що колишній генеральний секретар ООН Пан Гі Мун може обіймати державну посаду в Кореї, у тому числі балотуватися в президенти.

Спеціальна група парламенту проаналізувала резолюцію ООН, посилаючись на яку критики Пан Гі Муна заявляли, що той не може претендувати на президентський пост. Однак парламентарії побачили, що в тексті резолюції використовуються такі слова, як, наприклад, "бажано", які не перекривають дорогу екс-главі ООН в політику.

У парламенті Південної Кореї додали, що Пан Гі Муну, якщо він захоче балотуватися в президенти, доведеться довести, що його попередній досвід роботи не позначиться негативно на інтересах його країни. У парламенті також зазначили, що зазвичай колишні глави ООН "утримуються" від роботи в державних відомствах.
