Нове видання "Майн кампф" вартістю 59 євро нараховує дві тисячі сторінок. Воно випущено мюнхенським Інститутом сучасної історії і включає в себе коментарі дослідників, а також аналіз ідеології нацистського лідера, яка, на думку вчених, є важливим історичним та освітнім інструментом.

Глава асоціації вчителів Німеччини Йозеф Краус схвалив перевидання "Майн кампф". На його погляд, наукові коментарі, якими забезпечена книга, допоможуть розвіяти "темний міф". "Мій педагогічний досвід показує: те, що заборонено, збуджує цікавість", - наводить його слова Sky News. Краус впевнений, що таким чином, праця Гітлера буде демістифікувати.

З цією точкою зору не згоден президент Всесвітнього єврейського конгресу Рональд Лаудер. На його погляд, вихід книги в продаж образливий для пам'яті жертв голокосту. Лаудер зазначає, що видання і так було доступно історикам і йому "слід було залишитися в "шафці з отрутами".

Тим не менш, оригінальний варіант книжки, не забезпечений коментарями істориків, як і раніше залишиться під забороною.

"Майн кампф" також перевидана у Франції, проте залишається під забороною в ряді європейський країн, які пережили нацистську окупацію. У їх числі Австрія та Нідерланди.
