В мексиканському місті Акаюкан був застрелений журналіст Гумаро Перес Агіландо (Gumaro Pérez Aguilando).
 

Напад відбувся в школі, куди журналіст прийшов на різдвяне святого свого 6-річного сина, пише Media Sapiens із посиланням на The Guardian. Двоє озброєних чоловіків увірвалися до класу й застрелили журналіста на очах у дітей.

За даними «Репортерів без кордонів», це 12-й журналіст, який був убитий в Мексиці за цей рік, а також третій журналіст, який за останні місяці загинув в Акаюкані.

Гумаро Перес Агіландо писав про проблеми, що відносяться до компетенції поліції, а також був засновником новинного сайту La Voz del Sur. Окрім того, він працював у відділі комунікацій місцевого самоврядування.

Ана Лаура Перес Мендоза (Ana Laura Pérez Mendoza), президент Державної комісії з захисту журналістів розповіла, що журналіст не повідомляв про будь-які погрози на свою адресу.

Кілька місяців тому в Мексиці був викрадений та вбитий фотокореспондент Едгар Ескеда (Edgar Esqueda). Сім'я репортера розповіла, що вранці 5 жовтня озброєні люди в поліцейській формі забрали його з його будинку. Наступного дня тіло Едгара Ескеди знайшли поблизу аеропорту промислового міста в 350 кілометрах на північ від Мехіко.
