Сайт має назву MexicoLeaks і покликаний допомогти у боротьбі з корупцією в країні.

Запустила ресурс група мексиканських видавців та громадських організацій. За його допомогою громадяни можуть повідомляти «потенційно вибухонебезпечну» інформацію, публікувати документи, фотографії, інші дані,повідомляє Media Sapiens

За словами авторів проекту, всі інформаційні «зливи» перед публікацією будуть ретельно перевірятися журналістами сайту. Платформа запевняє у забезпеченні цілковитої анонімності.

«Ми не маємо жодних політичних намірів», - каже Ігнаціо Родрігес Рейна (Ignacio Rodriguez Reyna), директор мексиканського видання Emeequis і наголошує, що йдеться лише про незалежну журналістську.

Працюють над проектом дві громадські організації та шість ЗМІ, в тому числі мексиканський тижневий журнал Proceso та веб-сайт Animal Politico.

Останнім часом у Мексиці відбулися великі корупційні скандали, нагадує Fox News. Надихнувшись досвідом сайту Джуліана Ассанжа WikiLeaks та викриттями Едварда Сноудена, MexicoLeaks має на меті заохотити розвиток місцевої розслідувальної журналістики.
