Сервіс мікроблогів Twitter у тестовому режимі подвоїв максимальну довжину повідомлення — з 140 до 280 символів, йдеться у повідомленні компанії, пише Новое время.

Згідно з повідомленням компанії, можливі зміни допоможуть людям "легше висловлювати свої думки".

"Як запхати всі думки в один твіт? Ми всі були у такій ситуації, і це мука", - написала в блозі компанії продакт-менеджер Twitter Елайза Розен.

Зміни торкнуться всіх мов, де не використовується ієрогліфічне письмо, "мов, схильних до переповнення". Для японської, китайської і корейської залишиться ліміт 140 символів.

Згідно з дослідженнями соцмережі, 9% всіх написаних англійською повідомлень впираються в 140 символів. На другому місці за поширеністю повідомлення довжиною 34 символи. В японській мові найпопулярніша довжина повідомлення становить лише 15 символів.

У компанії також наголосили, що концепція Twitter не втратить своєї першопочаткової мети.

"Twitter придуманий для стислості. Саме тому він дозволяє так добре відбити те, що відбувається. Твіти без зайвих слів передають інформацію або думки, які мають значення. Це ніколи не зміниться", — йдеться у повідомленні компанії.

Засновник Twitter Джек Дорсі одним з перших опублікував твіт більше 140 символів.

"Це нехай і маленька зміна, але великий крок для нас. 140 символів - це був випадковий вибір, заснований на 160 символах в ліміті SMS-повідомлень. Пишаюся тим, наскільки вдумливо підійшла команда до вирішення проблеми, з якою стикалися люди, намагаючись написати твіт. І при цьому їм вдалося зберегти нашу стислість, швидкість і сутність!", - написав Дорсі.
