Суд арестовал экс-президента Перу ​Ольянта Умалу и его жену Надин Эредию на 18 месяцев по делу об отмыванию финансов и коррупции. Об этом сообщает El Comercio.

​"Суд одобрил просьбу о досудебном задержании на 18 месяцев в отношении бывшего президента Ольянта Умала и его жены Надин Эредиа, представленной прокуратурой по делу об отмыванию денег и коррупции", - говорится в сообщении.

Согласно информации издания, судья Рикард Консепсьон Кархуанчо вынес свое решение по просьбе прокурора Жермена Хуареса Аточе, который заявил, что бывший глава государства может скрыться из страны. Суд также заслушал адвокатов бывшей президентской пары.

Установлено, что в период пребывания на посту президента Умала получал деньги от компаний из Венесуэлы и Бразилии в 2006 и 2011 годах. Полученные средства он тратил на предвыборные акции.
