Колишній ректор-утікач податкової академії Петро Мельник вирішив стати мером Ірпеня.

Про це повідомляє його прес-служба,пише Українська правда

Мельник заявив, що йде на вибори, щоб показати владі, що справи проти нього політичні і нікчемні.

Щодо рішення балотуватись, то Мельник каже, що його "попросили".

"Мене попросили ірпінці, і я немаю права їм відмовити",- переконує він.

Як відомо, вибори мера Ірпеня відбудуться 26 жовтня, паралельно з виборами у Верховну Раду.

У липні 2013 року Мельник був затриманий співробітниками міліції у власному кабінеті при отриманні хабара.

7 серпня на нього одягли спеціальний браслет, який дозволяє відстежувати всі переміщення заарештованого. У ніч на 9 серпняМельник зняв браслет і зник у невідомому напрямку, а згодом знайшовся у США.
