Лідер іракського Курдистану Масуд Барзані покине посаду президента з 1 листопада, повідомляє Reuters з посиланням на представника влади автономії.

Про свої плани залишити пост Барзані повідомив у листі, адресованому парламенту регіону. У ньому Барзані пропонує розділити президентські повноваження між урядом автономії, парламентом і судовими органами.

Термін президентських повноважень Барзані закінчується 1 листопада. На цей же день були заплановані президентські і парламентські вибори.

Як передає агентство, минулого тижня було оголошено, що вибори відкладені на невизначений термін в умовах кризи, що загострилася з Багдадом.

Раніше в іракському Курдистані заявили про атаку урядових сил на їх позиції в Кіркуку.

Це сталося після того, як автономний курдський регіон Іраку направив туди 6 тисяч бійців як підкріплення, що стало відповіддю на повідомлення про перекидання в цей район іракської армії з бронетехнікою.
