Президент Чехії Мілош Земан заявив про намір балотуватися на другий термін у 2018 році.

Про це повідомляє Radio Praha.

72-річний Земан заявив, що "вважав би себе боягузом, якби залишив людей, які підтримують його".

В той же час він визнав, що стан здоров’я може не дозволити йому брати участь у виборах Земан, зокрема, сказав, що страждає на діабет.

На виборах наступного року серед конкурентів Земана письменник Міхал Хорачекk, активіст Марк Хілшер, і підприємець Ігор Сладек. Інші кандидати поки свою участь у виборах офіційно не підтвердили.

 Чеські ЗМІ вважають, що на посаду президента також можуть балотуватися голова Академії наук Іржі Драгошові, міністр оборони Мартін Стропнічем або колишній посол у США і Росії Петр Коларов.

Земан відомий своєю проросійською позицією. Він неодноразово виступав за скасування санкцій проти Росії, попри те, що уряд Чехії притримується загальноєвропейської лінії збереження санкцій.

Він також заявляв, що Крим не може бути повернутий Україні, хоча Росія і вчинила його анексію.
