Премьер-министр Таиланда Прают Чан-Оча пригрозил казнить журналистов, которые пишут «неправду». «Мы, возможно, будем их просто казнить», — сказал Чан-Оча, когда его спросили, как государство будет поступать с журналистами, которые не придерживаются точки зрения правительства. Как отмечает Reuters, на лице премьер-министра не было «ни тени улыбки»,пишет Медуза

«Вы не обязаны поддерживать правительство, но вы должны сообщать правду», — сказал он. Прают Чан-Оча посоветовал журналистами писать так, чтобы способствовать единению в королевстве.

В прошлом месяце Прают Чан-Оча заявил, что у него есть полномочия просто закрывать СМИ. В январе правительство Таиланда запретило провести в стране форум, посвященный свободе прессы. Его собирался устроить немецкий фонд.
Командующий армией Таиланда Прают Чан-Оча пришел к власти в мае 2014 года. Он объявил о военном перевороте. Сейчас в стране действует военное положение. Там запрещены любые политические митинги.
