Премьер-министр Израиля Биньямин Нетаньяху подозревается в преступлениях, связанных со взяточничеством, мошенничеством и злоупотреблением доверия в двух коррупционных эпизодах.

Об этом заявила израильская полиция, передает Голос Америки.

Нетаньяху отрицает любые правонарушения. Его представитель сказал в своем заявлении в четверг, что премьер-министр стал целью направленной на смену правительства “охоты на ведьм”, которая сейчас находится на пике.

Один эпизод, получивший название Файл 1000, включает в себя утверждения о том, что Нетаньяху ненадлежащим образом принял щедрые подарки от богатых сторонников, включая австралийского миллиардера Джеймса Пэкера и голливудского продюсера Арнона Мильчана.

Второй эпизод, Файл 2000, касается предполагаемых попыток Нетаньяху заключить сделку с издателем Арноном Мозесом из газетной группы Едиот Ахронот (Последние новости - ивр.) для вмешательства в законодательство, чтобы ослабить главного конкурента газеты в обмен на более благоприятное освещение деятельности Нетаньяху.

Нетаньяху не первый израильский лидер, которому грозит уголовное расследование. Бывший премьер-министр Эхуд Ольмерт был признан виновным в нарушении доверия и взяточничестве в 2014 году, и Ариэль Шарон был допрошен во время пребывания в должности по поводу утверждений о взяточничестве и финансировании незаконных кампаний.
