Дональд Трамп, який претендує на висунення від Республіканської партії на пост президента США, здобув перемогу в усіх п'яти штатах, де у вівторок проходили первинні вибори.

Трамп обійшов своїх конкурентів у Коннектикуті, Делавері, Меріленді, Пенсільванії і Род-Айленді.

За підсумками цих праймеріз будуть розподілені голоси 172 делегатів з'їзду республіканців у Клівленді (штат Огайо), на якому вирішиться хто стане офіційним кандидатом від партії на президентських виборах. З'їзд партії відбудеться 18-21 липня.

У свою чергу претендент на пост президента США від Демократичної партії Хілларі Клінтон здобула перемогу на праймеріз в чотирьох штатах - Делавері, Меріленді і Пенсільванії і Коннектикуті, Її суперник Берні Сандерс виграв в Род-Айленді.

Президентські вибори пройдуть в США 8 листопада 2016 року.
