Зокрема, цим словом стала "постправда" (post-truth).

"Після довгих дискусій і роздумів, словом 2016 року обрано "постправду" - так характеризуються обставини, за яких об'єктивні факти менше впливають на формування громадської думки, ніж емоції або особисті переконання", - йдеться в повідомленні на сайті словника.

Упорядники словника стверджують, що таке явище як "постправда" існувало протягом десятиліть. Однак, термін став дуже популярним після виходу Великої Британії з ЄС і президентських виборів у США, на яких переміг республіканець Дональд Трамп.

Також, в шорт-лист Оксфордського словника увійшли слова "коулрофобія" (страх перед клоунами), "брекзітер" (прихильник виходу Великої Британії з ЄС) та "чатбот" (програма, в якій користувач говорить з комп'ютером, симулюючи розмову).
